  • Due to a hard drive failure we had a new, bigger drive put in and Catalina was installed. All works fine. Except LibreOffice.

I have given LibreOffice full access on the machine. However, I cannot do a “save as” on files, mainly spreadsheets with formulas. Or documents.

I do a save as to make a copy to .xls and the wheel spins and then LibreOffice “breaks”, fails…and I have to go back and do a restore on the .ods file.

Going to the LibreOffice forums shows this to be a problem, but no solution other than the giving full access to the machine, which has been done.

    Any other ideas?

I’m not a Mac user, and really don’t much about it. But here is one thought:

From what I find, Cataline runs in a read-only volume. Data files are supposed to be in a separate volume that has read-write access.

Are you trying to save files to the wrong volume?

I’ll admit I’m out of my league here!

What kind of error message do you get, if any?

Any log files generated that might give some clues? I know in some of the recent MS products there are ‘events’ recorded that are helpful, if you can work thru them — and Linux generates log files.

Time for the Mac users to step in here.
